Business Name and Professional Status

Berridge “Barry” Marsh is an active member of the State Bar of California and sole proprietor doing business as Barry Marsh, JD Tax Services. The name Barry Marsh, JD Tax Services is a trade name only. It is not a law firm, partnership, limited liability company, or corporation.

Clients may verify Barry Marsh’s active California State Bar membership through the State Bar of California website or by contacting the State Bar of California.

Active members of the State Bar of California are exempt from registration with the California Tax Education Council, or CTEC. Accordingly, Berridge Marsh and Barry Marsh, JD Tax Services are not registered with CTEC and are not required to hold a CTEC surety bond. Clients may visit the CTEC website for information about tax preparer laws in California.

Scope of Services

Barry Marsh, JD Tax Services provides tax preparation and related tax consulting services.


The exact scope of services will depend on the client’s needs, the information provided, and the terms of any applicable engagement agreement.

Not Legal Services

Services provided by Barry Marsh, JD Tax Services are limited to tax preparation and related tax consulting. These services are not legal services and should not be construed to create an attorney-client relationship with respect to tax preparation or any other matter.

Legal representation requires a separate written attorney-client fee agreement executed by the parties. Unless such a separate written agreement is signed, no attorney-client relationship is created.

Tax positions, tax return preparation, tax planning discussions, tax notice assistance, and audit assistance do not constitute legal advice unless expressly provided under a separate written attorney-client agreement.

No Guarantee of Outcome

Barry Marsh, JD Tax Services makes no guarantee, representation, or warranty regarding the outcome of any tax filing, tax position, audit, examination, notice, dispute, refund, assessment, or other matter involving any federal, state, or local taxing authority.

Tax law is complex and subject to change. Positions taken on tax returns are based on information provided by the client and may be subject to review or challenge by taxing authorities.

Client Responsibilities

Clients are responsible for providing complete, accurate, and timely information needed to prepare tax returns or provide related tax services. This includes, but is not limited to, income records, expense information, tax forms, business records, prior-year returns, notices, and any other relevant documents.

Clients are responsible for reviewing completed tax returns and related documents before filing. By approving a return for filing, the client confirms that the information provided is complete and accurate to the best of the client’s knowledge.

Barry Marsh, JD Tax Services is entitled to rely on information provided by the client without auditing or independently verifying that information, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Payment Terms

Payment is due upon completion of tax return(s) and delivery to the client for review, and before electronic filing or paper submission, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Accepted payment methods include debit card, credit card, ACH/bank transfer, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or other approved payment methods.

Fees may vary depending on the complexity of the tax return or service requested, including but not limited to business income, investment activity, rental property, multi-state filings, tax notices, audit assistance, planning needs, or additional forms and schedules.

Refund Products

Barry Marsh, JD Tax Services does not offer or facilitate Refund Anticipation Loans, Refund Anticipation Checks, Refund Transfers, or similar financial products.

Tax refunds from the IRS or state taxing authorities may generally be received by direct deposit or mailed paper check, subject to the rules, timelines, and processing procedures of the applicable taxing authority.

Consultations

Free consultations are offered to help prospective clients discuss their tax situation, ask questions, and determine whether Barry Marsh, JD Tax Services may be able to assist.

A consultation does not create a tax preparer-client relationship, attorney-client relationship, or obligation to provide services. Services begin only after Barry Marsh, JD Tax Services agrees to provide services and any required engagement terms are accepted.

Electronic Communications and Document Transmission

Clients may communicate with Barry Marsh, JD Tax Services by phone, email, scheduling tools, client portals, or other approved methods.

Clients should not send Social Security numbers, tax returns, financial account numbers, or other sensitive information through general website forms or unsecured email unless specifically instructed to do so through a secure method.

Third-Party Services

Barry Marsh, JD Tax Services may use approved third-party providers for tax software, e-filing, secure document portals, payment processing, scheduling, website hosting, email, analytics, cloud storage, or other business operations.
